One of our favourite places to visit in the UK is the magical city of Edinburgh. Here are five reasons why you need to visit Edinburgh.
Castles, restaurants and galleries galore. It is impossible to get bored in Edinburgh. The Capital’s true character however can’t be measured by its attractions alone. It is measured by the feeling you get there. The kindness and warmth of its people, as well as the calm and tranquillity of it, are tucked in green spaces.

1. You love history

We know that this is going to sound predictable, bear with us! We truly believe that Edinburgh Castle is something everyone should see. The views are incredible, and we find out something new and interesting every time we go. It’s so historically important. As one of the oldest castles in the UK, it is believed to have been occupied since the Bronze age. The castle, sitting on top of an extinct volcano is the biggest tourist attraction in all of Scotland. The panoramic views are not to be missed.
2. You’re a Harry Potter fan

The Elephant House has established itself as one of the best tea and coffee houses in Edinburgh. Pull up a chair in the famous place of inspiration to writers such as J.K. Rowling, who sat writing much of her early novels in the back room overlooking Edinburgh Castle.
When you’re finished if you want to continue the search for magic or inspiration you’ll find Mr Potter and other familiar names on gravestones at Edinburgh’s Greyfriars’s Kirkyard. It’s literally just steps from The Elephant House where Rowling penned the first book.
3. You want to spot the UK’s only Giant Pandas

For the animal mad or families in need of a day out. Set amongst 82 acres of gorgeous sloping parkland. Edinburgh Zoo is situated three miles to the west of Edinburgh city centre. This beautifully well-kept zoo is home to the Penguin Parade and the UK’s only Giant Pandas. Meet their amazing animals and learn about their wildlife conservation work to protect species in Scotland and around the world.
4. You admire the weird and wonderful

For the lovers of illusions and all things weird and wonderful. Give the magical world of Camera Obscura a visit. You’ll leave feeling well and truly amazed. (In my case also a little bit dizzy!)
Home to the ‘Great Telescope’ since taking over in 1977, Camera Obscura continued the work that Maria Short and Patrick Geddes started. They collaborate with artists, inventors and technical wizards – to plunge you into a world of wonder and delight.
5. You enjoy a fright
If you love nothing more than being scared out of your mind, Edinburgh is for you! There are SO many different tours you could choose from. From exploring the underground vaults on a late-night terror tour to comedy horror shows – Edinburgh ghost tour by bus! Check out this website and have a look for one that would suit you.
